Product Description
Replacement Bearing Assembly for Metco Motorsports Idler Pulley
(Single and Double-Bearing)
6203 Style
This bearing is the same bearing originally installed in Metco Motorsports idler pulleys. It is a high-speed, high-load bearing manufactured by NTN. These bearings use large steel rollers in a heavy grease, with double seals designed to keep the grease in and the contaminants out. No maintenance is required, and in a properly set up serpentine system, these bearings can be expected to last indefinitely. These bearings are not wear items, and it is not necessary to replace pulley bearings preemptively or as part of a maintenance routine. However, if a replacement bearing is necessary, these bearings are the ones to use. Each replacement bearing ships with a new spring clip. Sold individually.
Important Note:
The MOST common cause of pulley bearing failure in any supercharged application is a belt that is too tight. The excessive side load imparted by an over-tensioned belt will shorten the service life of a pulley bearing, as well as impact the service life of all of the other components on the blower drive. If a failed bearing is kept in service for a period of time, the heat and vibration from the failed bearing can ultimately damage the pulley bore. If the pulley bore becomes worn, the replacement bearing will not fit tightly in the pulley and the pulley must be replaced.
